How do I change the fuzzy logic percentage or date of birth sensitivity?

Unlike strict, binary searches that rely on exact matches, fuzzy logic takes a more flexible approach. It allows the software to consider various factors, such as names or identifiers that are similar but not identical, and then assigns a degree of likelihood to each match. In this context, the 85% threshold represents a confidence level; it indicates that the software has found potential matches with an 85% certainty that they meet the search criteria. If you opt to add a date of birth the system by default will search 3 years above and below this date. This approach enables AML professionals, to cast a wider net when conducting searches, ensuring that potentially relevant entities are not overlooked, while still maintaining a reasonably high level of confidence in the results.

If you would like to change the fuzzy logic threshold or the date of birth sensitivity - you will need to reach out to your Platform Admin or Customer Success Manager at Themis to adjust for you.

If you are the Platform Admin, follow these steps to change the logic:

  1. Go to the 'Admin' tab within Themis Search.
  2. Click 'Screening Logic' from the drop down menu.
  3. Configure your preferences for both:
    1. Date of Birth Sensitivity.
    2. Fuzzy Logic Percentage.
